By 1 Month of Age, Your Baby Should Be Able To:
- Turn their head toward a hand placed near their cheek or mouth (rooting reflex).
- Bring both hands to their mouth.
- Turn their head toward familiar voices.
- Suckle at the breast and touch the mother's breast with their hands during feeding.
Tips for Parents and Caregivers
- Breastfeeding should begin within the first hour after birth.
- Always support your baby's head and neck when lifting or carrying them, as they are not yet able to hold their head up independently.
- Hold, cuddle, and comfort your baby often. Show affection, even when you feel tired.
- Breastfeed on demand, both during the day and at night.
- Talk, read, and sing to your baby as often as possible to encourage early development and bonding.
- Take your baby to their primary healthcare provider during the first week after discharge from the maternity hospital for their initial newborn check-up.
