Baby's Growth and Development

Baby's Growth and Development

Every newborn is unique. Babies differ in birth weight, length, and rate of development, so avoid comparing your child with other babies of the same age.

Your baby's weight is one of the most important indicators of healthy growth and development, and it should be monitored every month. Poor weight gain or weight loss may indicate illness or inadequate nutrition.

When Should You See a Doctor?

If your baby's weight gain is:

  • Less than 500 grams per month during the first 6 months of life;
  • Less than 400 grams per month after 6 months of age;
  • Your baby is not gaining weight at all.

you should consult your healthcare provider immediately.
