Development at 7 Months

By 7 months of age, a baby's hearing and vision are almost as well developed as those of an adult. The neural pathways responsible for processing sensory information are fully established, enabling the baby to better understand and respond to the surrounding environment.

Physical Development

  • Begins crawling or is already crawling.
  • Sits confidently with a straight back without support.
  • Attempts to pull up to a standing position in the crib.
  • Can stand while supporting themselves with both hands.

Cognitive and Social Development

  • Looks for familiar people or objects when asked, "Where is...?"
  • Repeats simple syllables and enjoys vocalizing.
  • Shows interest in looking at pictures in books.
  • Reaches toward their reflection in the mirror.

At this age, your baby's mouth, jaws, and teeth are developing rapidly. As a result, they have a strong desire to chew on objects. Offer safe rubber teething toys to help satisfy this natural urge and soothe their gums.
