Advices after pregnancy
Complementary Feeding
- When introducing any new food, start with small portions (2–3 teaspoons) and gradually increase the amount.
- At the beginning of complementary feeding, offer only one new food at a time.
- Complementary feeding usually begins with fruit purée or infant cereal, followed by vegetable purée, and later meat broths.
- Remember: Complementary foods should be fed with a spoon, not from a bottle or teat.
- Always prepare your baby's food following proper hygiene and food safety practices.
- If your baby is under 9 months of age and breastfed, offer the breast first, followed by complementary foods.
- After 9 months of age, offer complementary foods first, and then breastfeed.
- For formula-fed babies, one milk feeding can gradually be replaced with a complementary meal.
