Advices after pregnancy
4 Months
At 4 months of age, one of your baby's most important developmental milestones is the improving coordination between hand and eye movements. Hand movements become more purposeful, and your baby begins to reach for and explore objects with greater accuracy.
At this stage, your baby's hands and feet often become their favorite toys. They enjoy looking at them, grabbing them, and bringing them to their mouth.
You may also notice increased drooling. This is a normal part of development and is associated with the preparation for the eruption of the first teeth. However, the first tooth may not appear for several more months.
Physical Development
By this age, your baby may be able to:
- Roll from their back onto their tummy independently or with a little assistance.
- Reach for and grasp objects.
- Suck on their fists and try to bring their feet to their mouth.
- Show the disappearance of physiological muscle tightness (hypertonia) in the legs.
Social and Emotional Development
Your baby may:
- Show a clear preference for their mother, become excited when they see her, and may become fussy when she leaves.
- Laugh, smile, and squeal with excitement.
- Respond to their name.
- Enjoy playing with toys hanging above the crib or play gym.
